Basically, on this page, I would like to share my experience of participating in one of the biggest projects during my TESL program called Extended Monologue. We are required to produce a short film in the first place but since everyone is staying at home due to the pandemic, we are only able to do a project that can be done online. For this assignment, we need to form a group of 4 or 5 people, and the group members have to choose one person to be the leader of the group. We are given a particular theme for this assignment and our group was assigned a Thriller theme. To be honest, I am not sure whether I can pull this off or not as I do not know much about thrillers and I hope that I can get Slice of Life for the theme. Fortunately, all of my group members have better knowledge of this theme, making it easy for us to come up with ideas for the monologue.

We discussed this on Google Meet and we agreed to create a story about the betrayal in a friendship that finally leads to murder and physical trauma. We know that the ending of the story is quite disturbing for some people yet we believe this is the best we can do to raise awareness about some issues such as mental health problems that commonly happened nowadays due to some circumstances that occurred in someone's life. The title of the story is "Abandon" as all scenes are revolved around one place only which is the abandoned mansion. For this assignment, we are also required to come out with the storyboard and full script for the story. We distributed the tasks and I was in charge to work on the storyboard with my friend while the other three members had to work on the scriptwriting. It was my first time making a storyboard and I enjoyed it very much, having the opportunity to unleash my creativity by drawing a cartoon to describe the scenes or characters in the story.

Finally, we need to make a video that is not less than 20 minutes. I was the one who take the responsibility to compile the video before posting it on YouTube. I also volunteered to create a thumbnail for the video. Aside from that, I also have experience writing a poem for literature exhibition assignments. The title of the poem is "The Curse" and the theme for this poem is feminism. I create a poem that tells about a girl that is inspired by a feminist that met her death in her struggle to seek equality from society. The girl hopes that she can continue the feminist’s dream, however, she also faces the same consequences which lead her to commit suicide at the end of the story. I know for a fact that the ending is quite disappointing as both characters are unable to make their dream come true yet that is how feminism is portrayed in the real life. Not to mention that the meaning of feminism is changed throughout the time as people try to apply their ideas and understanding to the theme itself that finally leading the society to miss the whole point of their intention.

For my degree program, I got the opportunity to join the competition called International Information Management Online Showcase (IIMOS 2021). In this competition, the participants are required to choose one career in an information agency and they need to provide as much information about the career in the form of a video presentation. It is indeed a fun activity to do as you will get a chance to discover many careers that are related to information management. Besides, in both semesters, I can learn something new in terms of the subjects such as how management works, how to create a basic HTML website, and what multimedia elements should be included in your videos to make them even more interesting to watch.
